    Hey Lx,
Yup, got your message. Got busy with stuff, though. Holidays! Ugh!

Hopefully, the new meds will get you sorted. It’s somewhat anxiety-inducing when you find this kind of stuff out. You (or at least me) feel like the sword of Damacles is hanging over your head.

After I had the stroke a couple of years ago, they ran a boat load of blood tests. After the vampires were done with me, they found out I have a rather rare blood disorder. Two, actually, that kind of work in concert. Anywho, to make a long story sort, I’ve a pretty good chance of having another stroke, and there isn’t a darn thing I can do about it. Meds or no meds. C’est la vie.

So, I guess when all’s said and done and the initial shock settles down, you simply go on living. You do the best you can do. Take the meds. Make the lifestyle changes and make a diligent effort to stay vertical and keep on breathing.

To say I don’t think about it would be a flat out lie. I think about it all the time. I wake up every day and think, “Hmmm … I wonder if this is the day I’ll drop dead, or worse, turn into broccoli.” The idea of being of the dead persuasion doesn’t bother me too much. I won’t know about it anyway. The veggie part freaks me out, though. The thought of living into my 90s as a carrot kinda stinks.

Gee, isn’t that nifty xmas thought? Sorry.

Are they planning to do any more tests?

On the up side, this is the 21st century and they’ve come a long, long way with cardio science. I have several friends who’ve had heart problems and with the stuff they have these days, they’re all fixed up. I have friends who’ve had heart caths almost on an out patient basis. It’s become a rather routine bit over here.

This is tough stuff to go through and anxiety-riddled. That’s pretty normal, me thinks. If you feel the need to chat about things, I’m usually sitting in front of this box. Cat can verify that. :-)

In the meantime, you and the family have a great Christmas. My thoughts are with you.

    All the best,
    Neil
